Oh Brother

Yes, I am going to make fun of Osama bin Fishfood today. My humour is kinda mean lately, and I enjoy the hell outta the snark that’s around this week.

As usual, I read The Bleat every morning. I am often rewarded by a word or phrase that draws a picture I can carry with me all day. Today, along with the blog, I got this from the comments:

I hear the SEALs have a new drink, called the Geronimo – two shots and a splash.

This one is from my Twitter feed:

They buried Osama out to sea right after Japan released radioactive water into the ocean. This has the makings of an awesome monster movie.

I’m arranging and rearranging my house these days. Bought a small weedwacker so I could tackle the sticker weeds and get at the fire ant hills. Nice and cool and some rain today, so I’m working inside. Have some ironing to do. Need to redo the pantry, put my stuff where I can reach it now that Duffy’s moved his stuff mostly out. Doing housekeeping tomorrow for my one regular client, then on Sunday I get to have lunch with Lovely Daughter and her family. Will be trying to squeeze some Step work in there with some women who want to do the work. Life Is Good.

Hope y’all have a fine weekend, too, and thanks for stopping by!

Cinco de Mayo, a made-up ‘holiday’ in the United States, is supposedly the commemoration of a small Mexican Army defeating the larger and better-equipped French Army at Puebla. It was also a battle that would hold little meaning when the French returned with a MUCH larger force and took Mexico City anyway.

Fine as it may be for the morale and city of Puebla itself, the MAIN purpose of this commemoration is the drinking of tequila and beer. Tequila and beer drinkers are the ones to whom the marketing is directed, and it has succeeded probably beyond the companies wildest expectations.

Which makes THIS ad campaign necessary…right?

I think I’ll keep my mind on something a bit different

So, have a terrific day, please take a cab or a designated driver if you insist on commemorating a fight between France and Mexico, and mostly, thanks so much for stopping by!

I have some loss of hearing. I’ve long made jokes about it – “Wait till I put my glasses on, I can’t hear you.”

Music is not really very pleasant to me, especially new music. Music from my younger days that has memory attached is the only kind I find much pleasure in. Crowded rooms are torture, piped-in Muzak is torture. The television on in the background? Ditto.

I just heard Rush talk about his total hearing loss, and while the severity and cause are different, we have some similarities. We both crave quiet.

Unfortunately, tinnitus makes ‘quiet’ an impossible dream. It’s become a sharp buzzing in the last few months. It exacerbates the loss of hearing, making it necessary for me to ASK people to look at me when they speak, and please speak fairly slowly and enunciate clearly. Mumbling is not only hard to understand, it pisses me right off.

So, if you are a friend or family member, please help me. Look at me, make sure I’m looking at you, speak clearly, a bit louder than usual, and turn off any background music or tv if you can. Thank you!
